Of Cows, Trees and Waterfalls - An attempt at deciphering Michael S. McLachlan’s journey through environmental chemistry

Welcome to the Stockholm University Environmental Science Seminar (SUESS) on 19 February.
This seminar is part of the retirement celebration for Michael McLachlan.

Frank Wania, Professor at the University of Toronto Scarborough, will speak about:

Of Cows, Trees and Waterfalls

An attempt at deciphering Michael S. McLachlan’s journey through environmental chemistry

Considering the wide variety of environmental media, the diversity of contaminants and the multitude of methodological approaches that appear in Michael McLachlan’s scientific output over the past forty years, it may at first glance seem elusive what ties this body of work together. One of his early - and completely ignored - papers may hold some clues by identifying what ailed chemical risk assessment at the time and by charting a comprehensive research agenda, which foreshadowed much of Michael’s contributions.

The seminar will begin with an introduction by Cynthia de Wit, Professor Emerita, ACES, Stockholm University.
