Characterisation of complex environmental mixtures by high resolution LC-MS: what can we achieve and what limits do we face?
Dissolved organic matter (DOM; and related mixtures like soil OM and aerosol OM) are ultra-complex to the extent that typical separation techniques cannot resolve them. So what information can we gain using LC-MS and LC-MS/MS? I will talk about recent advances in the field and about what the future might hold for improvements.
