ARTofMELT2023 expedition studies the arrival of summer in the Arctic

The Arctic is changing fast, driven by a constant push-and-pull between warm air arriving from the south and energy escaping back into space. To understand what happens in that critical moment when winter turns to summer, department researchers co-led the ARTofMELT2023 expedition to capture rare, real-time data on the very start of sea-ice melt.
