Research in geochemistry, geology and marine geology

Geological Science constitutes a major academic discipline. It provides crucial information to society about mineral resources and energy, ground-water availability, the evolution of the climate and about other natural hazards including tsunamis, landslides, volcanic eruptions and earthquakes.

The main research subjects at the Department of Geological Sciences are: Geochemistry, Geology and
Marine Geology.

SIL – STABLE ISOTOPE LAB

The lab objective is to develop new methods for use in geochemistry and running samples for researchers at IGV, but also to other researchers.

Research at the Department of Geological Sciences is strongly integrated with the activities within Stockholm University's Baltic Sea Center.
