Research subjects
At the Department of History, studies of the past have range as well as depth. Medieval historians and colleagues specialized in the 18th century meet and work next to experts in modern history.
While most of our researchers work primarily on individual projects, they often collaborate with researchers from other parts of Sweden and around the world through international networks. The research at the department covers a range of topics that engage our researchers in different constellations.
Several research centers in Medieval Studies, Urban History, and Maritime Studies are located in the department. We also organize research seminars on early modern history, gender history, modern history, digital history, the history of sports, and climate and environmental history. The seminar series provides a forum for researchers to meet regularly and discuss topical issues.
