Welcome to the Department of Human Geography! Here you can find important information as a new student with us. We hope you will have successful start and enjoy your studies at our institution. In order to ensure that your studies begin as smoothly as possible there are a few things you need to do before your course or programme start.

In order to begin your studies at Stockholm University, you need to apply for the course or programme you wish to study and confirm your admission at:

Activate your university account and register

Before your studies begin you need to activate your university account and make an online registration for your courses.

Registration is mandatory for those who wish to take the course and is done online, or in exceptional cases at the student office, according to instructions in the respective admission letter from the department.

When you have registred for your course or courses you will have access to Athena which is a web-based learning and collaboration platform for courses at Stockholm University. In Athena you will find detailed information about your course such as lecture planning, literature lists, exams and schedule changes.

Student Affairs Office/International Coordinator

Contact the Student Affairs Office in the first instance if you have general questions about your studies at the department, including matters related to registration in systems such as Ladok and Athena. You can also request certified transcripts and other official certificates and talk to the International Coordinator about studying abroad as part of the Department's courses and programmes and exchange studies within the Department's agreements.

Study Counsellor

The study counsellor can provide information and guidance on study pathways, programme and course selection, admission, eligibility, approved leave from studies, discontinuation of studies, credit transfer, degrees and careers. You should contact the study counsellor if you are experiencing difficulties keeping up with your studies or have other study-related concerns.
