Contemporary environmental law issues in Africa
Stockholm Environmental Law and Policy Centre invites to a seminar with Professor Hennie Strydom on "Contemporary environmental law issues in Africa"
The challenges and issues facing environmental law in Africa are numerous and diverse. They range from matters of global concern, such as climate change and biodiversity, to more regional issues for the continent and its parts. They include specific environmental matters, such as poaching and the protection of wildlife, and the control of plastic wastes, to broader issues of participatory and human rights, and transboundary corporate responsibility. They pertain to transboundary disputes and international institution-building. And they engage environmental laws at different levels and scales, of global, regional and national scope.
At this seminar, Professor Hennie Strydom highlights some of the contemporary environmental law issues in Africa
Hendrik Andries (Hennie) Strydom is the National South African Research Chair in International Law and Professor of Public International Law at the University of Johannesburg, as well as the President of the South African Branch of the International Law Association.
