It's a great opportunity to study from one of the best universities in Sweden and to gain more insight about other legal fields.

Which university and which country are you from?

I am currently studying at the University of Westminster in the UK but I am originally from Mauritius.

Why did you choose to study at the SULaw Summer Programme 2024?

The University of Stockholm is ranked among one of the best universities of law, especially in Sweden. I thought that it would be a wonderful opportunity to gain more knowledge and skills while also learning about a new culture.

Which courses did you choose and why did you choose them?

I was curious about the world of Intellectual Property, and I thought the Summer programme would be a great way to test the waters and see if it was a career I would consider pursuing later on in my legal journey.

What are your tips and tricks to make the best of the course(s) and your stay at SULaw?

Prepare for the classes beforehand so you get an idea of what will be covered. Engage as much as you can with your tutors, ask questions, engage with other students and ask them about their opinion of what was discussed in the previous lectures. However, take advantage of the facilities available such as the library.

What did you enjoy the most during your stay in Stockholm?

I really enjoyed visiting museums such as the Nobel Prize Museum and exhibitions like the Avicii Experience. The Swedish architecture was something I highly appreciated as well. The Royal Palace was gorgeous! The Swedish pastries were also really good, trying out local cafes is a must! However, I would say my favourite part was interacting with new people and engaging with different cultures. One day we all decided to go out and have Ramen and we had a chat, it was fun to get to know more about the other students, where they come from, how their jurisdiction differs from mine and just learning more about their culture in general.

Why should other students choose to study our Summer programme?

The welcome committee is lovely! They will make you feel at ease and it is a great opportunity to study from one of the best universities in Sweden and to gain more insight about other legal fields. You will also have the opportunity to learn more about cultures by engaging with students coming from across the globe. It is a wonderful experience for academic enrichment and growth, that I would highly recommend to anyone looking to step out of their comfort zone.

How would you summarize SULaw Summer programme with 3 words?

Unique, Fun and Memorable!
