You get to take amazing courses from professors all around the world who are the best at those subjects.
Why did you choose to study at SULaw Summer programme 2024?
As a practicing lawyer and a master's student from Türkiye, I wanted to explore more about EU Law and broaden my perspective, together with contributing to my own country's harmonization process of adopting EU Law principles.
Which courses did you choose and why did you choose them?
I chose Intellectual Property Law on Online and Digital Environments, and Human Rights in the Digital Age, mostly because these classes align with my pursuits, thus I thought that these classes could help me gain a good understanding of the private law system and application in the EU member states. Along with that, it was a plus for me to study these areas focusing mainly on Digital Environments, since it has become more and more crucial for lawyers to focus on disputes arising in these environments. I believe that the increasing digitalization in today's world is an important point to focus on.
What are your tips and tricks to make the best of the course(s)?
Firstly, trying to resist the beauty of the amazing city and focus on the classes of course - which is very challenging. Other than that, I would recommend reading the materials shared because they're both entertaining and educating at the same time. One can even find an interesting point and make his/her own research of that topic. This could help you enjoy the subject while learning more!
What did you enjoy the most during your stay in Stockholm?
Along with the tasty Swedish meatballs and the amazing culture of the city, I really enjoyed the trips our summer team has prepared for us. We have visited many cultural places together and socialized with each other, which helped me gain really good friendships, and enjoy the travelling-abroad experience at its fullest -- without the anxiety of getting homesick.
Why should other students choose to study our Summer programme?
I believe that it is a great opportunity to broaden your horizons and is indeed a once in a life-time experience. You get good friendships, together with exploring a new city, and on top of that you get to take amazing courses from professors all around the world who are the best at those subjects. The courses are very customized courses which you might not have the chance to undertake during your undergraduate or even graduate studies as a law student. It was a great opportunity to learn more about these specific branches of EU Private Law while enjoying beautiful Stockholm.
