SU Law Students Reach Finals of WIPO IP Moot
We are proud to share that two of our EIPL students, Maria Luisa Avendaño Cotrina and Rahul Scharfenberg, have been selected to participate in the final oral rounds of the first-ever WIPO International IP Law Moot Court Competition, which will take place in Geneva from 23 to 26 April 2025.
This newly launched global moot, organised by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), brings together law students from around the world to explore pressing issues in intellectual property law through simulated litigation. Following an initial written round and an intense online oral phase, only 12 teams advanced to the in-person finals in Geneva.
We are delighted that Maria Luisa Avendaño Cotrina and Rahul Scharfenberg, students of our LL.M. in European Intellectual Property Law (EIPL), will represent Stockholm University among this elite group.

The 2025 moot case, set in a fictional regional jurisdiction, deals with current and thought-provoking legal challenges, including AI-generated art, digital copyright disputes, NFTs, and the safeguarding of indigenous cultural expressions. Over the course of several rounds, participants will argue both sides of the case before a panel of international IP experts.
Maria Luisa and Rahul’s participation reflects their strong academic performance and growing expertise in the field of intellectual property law, as well as the high quality of our LL.M. programme. We wish them the very best as they prepare to take on this exciting opportunity at the heart of international IP law.
