The Department of Linguistics offer courses and programmes in three main fields of study: Linguistics, Language Informatics and Sign Language. Our researchers are active in fields such as General Lingvuistics, Child Language Acquisition, Computational Linguistics, Phonetics and Sign Language.

Our department was founded in 1965, following the merger of the Department of General Linguistics and the Department of Phonetics.
