Degree projects in mathematical statistics
On this page you find information about writing a master's thesis in mathematical statistics or insurance mathematics.
For a Master's Degree in Mathematical Statistics or Insurance Mathematics, a degree project comprising 30 higher education credits is required. The topic of the project is decided by the supervisor together with the student. The work is to be presented in a written thesis and at a seminar. Usually there are opportunities to present at the start and end of each semester.
You can read more about the degree projects in mathematical statistics and their eligibility requirements in the course catalogue. Remember that you have to apply for the degree project via Universityadmissions.se.

MT9013 Mathematical Statistics, Degree Project, 30 credits
Since the bachelor's (first cycle) degree project generally requires that you know Swedish, this page concerns only master's (second cycle) degree projects.

Starting the degree project
To start a degree project, you must fulfill the eligibility requirements, and apply for the degree project via Universityadmissions.se. Details on this can be found in the course catalogue, see links above.
The project can either be done internally at the department or externally at a company, government agency, etc. You are expected to be active in finding a topic for the project. Suggestions for projects can be found below. For external projects the coordinator and teachers at the department can assist with contacts.
Presenting the degree project
The degree project is documented in a thesis and presented at a seminar at the department (the presentation should be about 30 minutes, and then there are 10 minutes for questions). Usually there are opportunities to present at the start and end of each semester. To apply for presentation, a final version of the thesis, approved by the supervisor, has to be submitted to the coordinator no later than three weeks before the presentation date.
