Safety, study environment and student support

As a student at Stockholm University you should know what to do in case of an incident or emergency. On this page we have you who are studying at the Department of Mathematics can find information about safety, reporting incidents and where to get support.

This page complements Stockholm University’s central information about emergencies and serious incidents:

Stockholm University – In an emergency

In an emergency

Call 112 if there is an immediate risk to life or health, for example in case of:

  • fire
  • accident
  • threatening situation
  • serious illness

You can also contact campus security guards at +46 8 16 42 00. Security guards are available on campus around the clock and can assist in different types of security-related situations.

Incidents and fire alarms in university buildings

It is good to know where emergency exits and assembly points are located in the buildings you regularly use, for example in Campus Albano. Evacuation plans are posted in lecture rooms and other areas of the campus buildings.

In the event of an incident or fire alarm, you should comply with instructions from staff on site (for example security guards or emergency services) and follow the building’s evacuation procedures.

In particular:

  • leave the building immediately if instructed to do so
  • help keep evacuation routes clear
  • follow evacuation signs and instructions on site

After evacuation, proceed to the designated assembly point and wait for further information.

Reporting incidents, accidents or safety risks (IA system)

Accidents, incidents and situations where someone could have been injured should be reported in the university’s incident reporting system (IA).

Examples include:

  • accidents or near accidents in university buildings
  • safety risks in classrooms or other facilities
  • faulty equipment or unsafe environments
  • blocked evacuation routes or other safety issues

Students may also submit reports anonymously.

More information about how to report incidents (see the section Report incidents and accidents in the IA system)

Students at Stockholm University are covered by student insurance.

If you are injured in connection with your studies, it is important to report the incident in the IA system, since the report may be relevant in insurance matters.
