Degrees

The final step of your studies is applying for a degree. Your degree certifies the knowledge and skills you have gained, and a physics degree opens doors to career opportunities across all sectors of the labor market.

You apply for your degree through the Ladok system. The university’s Degree Office reviews and awards the degree.

There are two third-cycle degrees: Licentiate and Doctor. Doctoral education consists of both a course component and a dissertation project carried out within a research project. A doctoral degree corresponds to 240 credits, including 60 credits of coursework, and concludes with a public defence of the doctoral thesis. A licentiate degree corresponds to half of the doctoral programme, i.e. 120 credits, including 30 credits of coursework.
