Your studies at Stockholm University begin with your admission. However, there are several steps from admission to actually starting your studies.

New student in Physics

Here we have gathered information that is specific to students in physics. For general information for all students at Stockholm University, please see the university’s main student pages above.

After you have activated your university account, you can register for your courses in physics.

  • Registering is required to keep your admitted place.
  • Registration confirms that you will take the course.
  • You register yourself online in Ladok.
  • Registration for astronomy courses usually opens two weeks before the course starts and closes one week after the start date.

If you are conditionally admitted, you need to contact studievagledare@fysik.su.se before you can register to the course/programme.

Canvas is Stockholm University’s digital learning platform, where you will find course information and communicate with the teacher. Once you have registered for a course, you will automatically gain access to the course page in Canvas. From the autumn semester 2026, all physics courses will use Canvas.

The Department of Physics is located in the main building of the AlbaNova University Centre. The building is within walking distance of Stockholm University’s main campus, Frescati, and is adjacent to the newly built Albano area.
