Public Health Sciences is the Fourth-Most Sought-After International Master´s Programme at Stockholm University
The Master’s Programme in Public Health Sciences is one of the international master’s programmes at Stockholm University that attracts the highest number of applicants. With 1,064 applicants, the programme ranks as the fourth most popular at the university. This is shown by statistics from UHR (the Swedish Council for Higher Education) following the close of applications for international master’s programmes starting in the autumn semester of 2026 on January 15.

Out of a total of 23,612 individuals who applied for a programme at Stockholm University for the autumn semester of 2026 – a rise of 11 percent compared with 2025 – no fewer than 1,064 chose to apply for the Master’s Programme in Public Health Sciences: Societal and Individual Perspectives. This marks a new record number of applicants for the programme, which had 774 applicants in 2025.
The programme had 315 first-choice applicants, compared with 2025 when 209 people listed it as their first choice.

The Master’s Programme in Public Health Science: Societal and Individual Perspectives (120 credits) begins every autumn semester. This interdisciplinary programme offers a broad overview of public health research, viewed from both historical and contemporary perspectives. The programme provides a deeper understanding of individual health outcomes and the distribution of health within populations, the determinants of health across the life course, as well as public health policy and practice. Both qualitative and quantitative methods are used throughout the programme.
