Scholarly research is essential at our department.

Research ranges over linguistics, literature and discourse analysis, classical and medieval philology, contemporary social science within Latin American studies, cultural studies and other interdisciplinary research projects in collaboration with other departments and universities. The Department has a wide network of international contacts and extensive experience of student and scholarly exchange.

The Nordic Institute of Latin American Studies is a central/core part of the department.

The CCS is a network of researchers and people interested in Canadian studies. The Centre promotes relations between Sweden and Canada and offers courses and activities related to Canada.

The Portuguese Language Centre Instituto Camões (O Centro de Língua Portuguesa do Instituto Camões (CLP/IC)) at Stockholm University is the result of a protocol established between Instituto Camões – The Portuguese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Stockholm University.
