Marta Garbelli Awarded the Premio Nencioni 2025
Marta Garbelli, former doctoral researcher at the Department of Romance Studies and Classics, has been awarded the Premio Nencioni 2025 by the Accademia della Crusca. The recognition is conferred annually for the best doctoral research in Italian linguistics conducted at a foreign university.

The recognition is conferred annually for the best doctoral research in Italian linguistics conducted at a foreign university.The award ceremony took place on Thursday, 11 September 2025 at 17:00 at the Accademia in Florence. The award includes a grant of €2,000 and a one-month research residency at the Accademia della Crusca. This distinction recognizes the academic quality of Garbelli’s PhD dissertation, “La microsintassi degli antichi volgari settentrionali: Articoli e pronomi personali nella prosa lombarda e veneta nei secoli XIII–XV”, supervised by Professors Michele Colombo and Anders Bengtsson, and defended in June 2024.
The evaluating commission noted the work’s scholarly depth and methodological soundness, recognizing it as a valuable contribution to the field.
