Sociology

Sociology is the scientific study of the origin, development, organisation, and functions of human societies.

Learn how gender and background affect us

Studying Sociology, you will learn how people's health is affected by gender, as well as by social and ethnic background. If you are interested in inequality and discrimination based on gender, class and ethnicity – Sociology is the right subject for you.

We offer two programmes in Sociology. The programmes start once a year, in the autumn semester.

Master's Programme in Sociology – 120 credits

Demography

If you want to understand the challenges society faces as populations change, then Demography is the right subject for you.

Learn about human populations and how they change

How does migration affect society? How are employment, family policy and childbearing related? These are some examples of questions you will explore when studying Demography. The studies include topics such as fertility, mortality and migration.

When to apply

The programmes are only open for application in the first international application round that opens in mid-October and closes in mid-January.

The majority of our master's courses are offered at half-time. There are exceptions, please find information at each course page.
