When you have completed your studies in Sociology or Demography and want to obtain a degree, you should apply for a degree certificate. To receive one, certain requirements must be met.

Master's degree

A Master's degree consists of 120 credits at advanced level, including a Master's thesis of 30 credits. In Demography, it is also possible to obtain a Master's degree that corresponds to one year of study.

To obtain a degree at advanced level in Sociology or Demography, you must have taken courses within one of our programs:

  • Master's degree in Demography: Courses according to the curriculum for the Master's Program in Demography, 60 credits
  • Master's degree in Demography: Courses according to the curriculum for the Multidisciplinary Master's Programme in Demography, 120 credits
  • Master's degree in Sociology: Courses according to the curriculum for the Master's Program in Sociology or the Master's Programme in Applied Social Research

How to apply for a degree

Once you have completed your studies at Stockholm University, you are welcome to apply for your degree certificate through Student Services. The certificate is issued upon request and is free of charge.
