New student

To be eligible for the Master’s Programme in Statistics it is required that the applicant has a Bachelor's degree in statistics.

It is also required that the applicant has passed the Swedish upper secondary school course English B or English 6 or one of the following tests.

To check if your high school studies meets the requirements of English B or English 6, look at the list of countries and courses that qualify for an English equivalent.

It is recommended that supporting documents such as letters of recommendation and academic test scores are attached to the application.

The following information on tuition fees only concerns citizens outside the EU, EES and Switzerland

Tuition fee, first instalment: 60 000 SEK

Total programme fee: 240 000 SEK

Conditional admittance

If you are conditionally admitted to a course you must contact the student office during the registration period, in order to keep your place in the course.

It is important that you look at the rules for conditional admittance before you apply for courses.

The general rules for conditional admittance are stated at the Stockholm university webpage.

It is also good to be aware that you can only be admitted to a maximum of 45 ECTS credits, and if you get conditionally admitted to a course this will also count as part of those maximum 45 ECTS credits.

So if you get conditionally admitted to a course of 30 ECTS credits, all courses you have put on lower priority that are bigger than 15 ECTS credits will be removed from your application.

If you cannot show eligibility to a course to which you are conditionally admitted, you cannot be registered to the course.

Please note: Contact the Study counsellor or the Student office within the deadline for registrations, if you are conditionally admitted to a course and therefore cannot make your web registration.

If you are an Exchange or international student, you might need assistance to make your course registrations.

Please contact the study counsellor before the deadline for registrations if you need assistance. If you do not contact us in time, your place will go to a reserve.

Sign up for a teaching group through Athena, and continue in the same group throughout the course.

In some courses you have to sign up for a teaching group through Athena (this applies specially to first level courses). It is important that you continue in the same group throughout the course. Deviations must unconditionally be informed to the Student Office.

Get access to IT services, your university account and order a university card

You will find course information on the course web page and on the study platform Athena. To get access to the course site on Athena you need to be registered for the course and have a universiyt account.

How to apply for support

Contact the study councellor

If you get a Nais certificate from the Coordinators for special pedagogical support, you must contact the study counselor at the Department of Statistics and inform us about your Nais certificate. We will then provide you with our routines for special support at the Department of Statistics.

Please notice that it is good to plan for some processing time, and take contact with the Coordinators for special pedagogical support as soon as possible.

Information about personal injury insurances for students in Sweden

There are different types of insurance programmes for students studying at the higher education level. Stockholm University have gathered information about student insurance depending on your student status:

As a student at Stockholm University, you can also get advice from the Student Health. They do also give lectures and seminars on topics such as stress and study techniques. They also give group treatments, such as yoga classes.

A registration lasts one term, therefore you will have to re-register if you should re-take the course another term. Re-registration is done if there are places available.

Re-registration for the undergraduate level courses is done at the Student Office.

For re-registration to the advanced courses, please contact the Study counsellor. Write your name and and which course you want to be re-registered on.

If you de-register from a course later than three weeks after the course has started, you will be unable to make another application for the same course. You will only be able to take the course again (re-register) if there are places available.
