Courses and programmes

Teachers from the Department of Zoology participate in a number of courses in all bachelor's level. An important tradition that we cherish is that parts of the teaching provide contact with real animals and are sometimes located in the field. Among other things, the department has its own research station Tovetorp in Sörmland, which most of our courses visit for shorter or longer field sessions. The research education program at the Department of Zoology is designed to provide students with the scientific knowledge and skills to be able to conduct research in broad field of zoology.

As a PhD student, you are expected to obtain at least 60 credits (högskolepoäng), which can be acquired by attending courses, seminars and conferences, giving talks or presenting posters.

The Stockholm University BioResearch School organizes PhD courses for students at any of the Biology departments at SU. In addition to subject-related courses, the BioResearch School organizes introductory course, obligatory for all PhD students in Biology and a requirement for those expected to participate in teaching, as well as other general interest courses and special events, such as workshops and the annual PhD Day.
