About SLOSH

The study builds on a long tradition of Swedish occupational health research. It is currently the world's largest nationally representative prospective cohort with information about psychosocial factors and health. SLOSH enables studies on the relationship between working conditions, retirement, health behaviours, environment, health and well-being.

Data is available for a long period of time, making it possible to investigate which factors affect people's health over time. Since SLOSH includes many people in different life situations, the research results can serve as an important basis for efforts to improve health, quality of life and participation both in and outside of working life.

Surveys since 2006

SLOSH contains detailed survey data complemented by administrative register data. The survey has been ongoing since 2006 with annual surveys since 2022. Until then, follow-ups were carried out every second year.

The study is based on participants in the Swedish Work Environment Survey and in total, SLOSH now consists of about 57,000 initially working people who are followed over their lifetime. Today we have data for people up to over 85 years of age. Since 2024, younger participants have been added through the Y-SLOSH project, regardless of whether they are working or not.

Access to data

Researchers are welcome to apply for access to SLOSH data for research purposes. It is also possible to order analyses performed by researchers at SLOSH. Applications are processed by SLOSH's management team.

The procedure and conditions for disclosure of SLOSH data can be found on SLOSH's website (in Swedish)
