Sara Persson visiting researcher
Sara Persson, Senior Lecturer, Department of Business and Mathematics, Division of Organization & Management at Mälardalen University will join Score as a visiting researcher in 2026. We warmly welcome Sara to Score!
Sara, tell us about your research.
I am a researcher in organization and management with a focus on sustainability. I am interested in the role of markets and firms in environmental governance regimes, as well as how discourses on sustainability, corporate social responsibility, and the circular economy are enacted in practice. In particular, my research focuses on the relationship between companies, local communities and public authorities in connection with the extraction of natural resources such as oil and minerals.
I am currently leading the Formas-funded project Prospecting for Transition Metals – Market Conditions, Actors, and Social Consequences, which examines how the prospecting market is governed and organized, and the interactions between market actors and local stakeholders. This builds on a previous project where I explored how mining for critical minerals is motivated and criticized based on contrasting perspectives on sustainability. I am also part of a project that studies how municipalities work with circular and green procurement.
What are you looking forward to during your stay at Score?
As a visiting researcher at Score, I want to learn from research on the organization of markets and issues of democracy, legitimacy, and power. I look forward to participating in seminars and workshops and hope to gain inspiration for my ongoing research project and develop new collaborations and ideas for future research.
