International Law from Below: Law Students Bringing Climate Justice to the International Court of Justice

The Pacific Islands Students Fighting Climate Change (PISFCC), founded by law students at University of South Pacific, Vanuatu, and Julian Aguon, human rights lawyer from Guam, share the 2025 Right Livelihood Award for “carrying the call for climate justice to the world’s highest court, turning survival into a matter of rights and climate action into a legal responsibility”.

At this seminar, we will hear about their actions for bringing climate justice from the law school to the International Court of Justice, and discuss the legal relevance of the Court’s Advisory Opinion on States’ Climate Obligations.
