Circulab advances data-driven chemistry

CircuLab@WISE is a platform to experimentally develop and validate safe synthesis, processing and applications of circular and sustainable soft matter materials in a fast and efficient manner.

The key pillars of CircuLab@WISE are process and synthesis automation towards specific applications, online and in-line monitoring and characterization, and artificial intelligence (AI)-supported analysis.

CircuLab@WISE will bring together the expertise and tools from sustainable chemistry, organic chemistry, materials chemistry, analytical chemistry and machine learning to build a research environment that leads to the development of safe, circular and sustainable materials for important applications.

The facility is divided into 4 interdependent clusters which can be used independently or integrated in tandem. 

  1. Modular equipment for rapid and automated functionalization, processing and re/upcycling of sustainable multicomponent materials and mechanochemistry
  2. Modular high-throughput equipment for the discovery and application of catalytic materials in chemical synthesis
  3. In-line and AI-supported equipped analytical tools to monitor the environmental impact of synthesis, processing, use and recycling
  4. Interphase development and optimization on-the-fly.
