SUCCeSS representatives at Treesearch Progress 2024 explain how Transdisciplinary Research can solve

Today our colleague Varvara Apostolopoulou Kalkavoura presented her research from different perspectives at Treesearch Progress 2024. Together with Ievgen Pylypchuk, Federica Ferruti and Mathias Nero, they showcased the research taking place at MMK and SUCCeSS while they showed different material samples from all the research groups.

Research can be fundamental and very specific in a narrow field but it can also be transdisciplinary connecting many partners. Transdisciplinary research tends to be a more accurate approach to tackle big societal problems as it can offer diverse solutions on matters that cannot be handled just by one research team. Handling of textile waste is a good example as fundamental research can give answers on how textiles can be chemically upcycled but transdisciplinary research can dial with the fate of all products and by-products during the chemical repurposing. Collaborating with other academic and non-academic partners can give answers on how a smart solution can be adapted to solve a real societal problem promoting a Sustainable Future.

Stockholm University offers a great environment for performing research and SUCCeSS complements it by designing the right environment for collaborations that can boost research to the next level.
