Library Search Service
Searching in the search box on the library's home page gives you access to almost all material available through the library. Here you search simultaneously among the library's printed books, e-books, articles, theses, journals, reports and databases.
If you want to see what is available at libraries other than Stockholm University Library, you can also search the national library catalogue Libris.
What is included in the search service?
The search service includes both material paid for by the library and material that is freely available (open access). However, some of the library's databases are not included. The list below shows which databases and other search services are included. Please note that the list is subject to change.
Databases A-Ö
If you want to search one of the library's databases that is not included in the search service, you can search directly in that database. You'll find the database either by searching for it in the search box or via Databases A-Ö. It may also be better to search directly in a subject-specific database if you want to search within a specific subject area.
E-journals A-Ö
To go directly to a specific journal, search for it in the search box or go to E-journals A-Ö. Here you can also check whether the journal uses peer review.
Filter your search results
Below the search box, there are several filters to limit the search to a specific type of material. Only one material type can be selected at a time. There are additional filtering options by the results list, see below.

All filters
Click on All filters below the search box (once you have entered the search service) to view all possible options and filter combinations for narrowing down your results.

- The Peer Review filter limits your search to articles published in peer-reviewed journals.
- Fulltext Online limits your search to results that the library has access to in full text. Please note that texts that you can borrow from other libraries or submit purchase suggestions for will not be displayed when you select this filter.
- With All time, you can narrow down the publication date. You can choose between material published in the last twelve months, the last five years or the last ten years. Under All filters, you can also create your own interval.
- Select Source type to limit the search to a specific type of material, such as books, articles or other document types.
Natural language search
You may enable Natural language search to formulate your search query in natural language. Searching with natural language means that you formulate your questions or topics as if you were talking to a person, instead of just typing in search terms. You can click Show refined query to see how the search service has interpreted your question.
How to access full text
To access texts online, click on the Fulltext online button. If there are several ways to access the text, the Access options menu will appear instead, allowing you to choose how you want to access the text. If the material is not available as fulltext or print for SU users, the Order purchases/ILL option will appear instead. Students and researchers at SU can use this to order the article or book free of charge via the library.

Number of search results
Note that the number of results displayed in the upper left corner is not number of unique hits. The search engine removes duplicates as you click through more results, but the number of results is not updated. You can see the actual number of unique hits by checking the number of the last hit.
Note also that the search engine does not indicate when you have reached the last hit in the results list. Instead, it still says Show more results, but the page does not load when you click. When you do not get any more hits, it means that you have reached the end of the results list.
Set language
You can select the language for the interface by clicking on MyEBSCO in the top right corner. Then, click on My preferences. Here, you can choose your preferred language from the dropdown menu. Click Save afterward.
