An important part of the work at SOFI is the collection of data of various kinds. Some of Sweden's most valuable data materials have been prepared at SOFI. A stated policy on SOFI's part is to make materials available to the research community within a reasonable time after the collection. The data materials are therefore eventually deposited at the Swedish National Data Service (SND).

The Level of Living Survey (LNU) is a nationally representative interview survey previously conducted in 1968, 1974, 1981, 1991 and 2000, 2010 and 2020-2022.

The Social Citizenship Indicator Program (SCIP) is a database describing the development of citizens' rights and obligations within five major social insurance programs in 18 OECD countries at 15 time points from 1930 to 2005. Together with data describing various aspects of social security statutes, and population structure and taxation of benefits, the database includes information on a total of about a quarter of a million data points.

The Social Policy Indicators (SPIN) database provides the foundations for new comparative and longitudinal research on causes and consequences of welfare states. SPIN makes available comparative data on social rights and duties of citizens, oriented towards analyses of institutions as manifested in social policy legislation. Data are carefully collected in a coherent and consistent methodological manner to facilitate quantitative research of social policy across time and space. To date, SPIN covers 36 countries, of which several have data on core social policy programs from 1930 to 2019.

REWHARD is a national infrastructure aiming to facilitate research on how working and living conditions, health, wellbeing and sickness absence influence each other across the life course. REWHARD comprises data from LNU and the databases SLOSH, IMAS and STODS and is funded primarily by the Swedish Research Council, the Karolinska Institutet and Stockholm University.
