Get access to IT services, your university account and order a university card
Before your studies begin you need to get a university account and order a university card.
Activation of university account
Your university account gives you access to IT services such as wireless network. Once you have activated your account you will be able to order your university card and get access to the library resources, printing and scanning. Activation of university accounts opens no earlier than January 7 for spring semester 2025.
Once your account has been activated you will be assigned an email address. To ensure that you do not miss any important information from the university or your department, you are advised to use that specific email address via Office 365 for students. Alternatively, you can register an active forwarding address, that will then be linked to your university account.
For international students
To activate your university account you need to visit Infocenter in Studenthuset, where you will receive a one-time code. By international students we mean exchange students, Erasmus students, master's students etc. Please bring a photo ID or passport!
If you are a distance student and cannot visit Infocenter, please follow the instructions in Serviceportalen:
Activate your university account as a distance student
For students with a Swedish personal identity number
If you have a Swedish personal identity number, a "personnummer", and have used universityadmissions.se or antagning.se when applying to courses in Sweden, you can activate your account online. As of autumn semester 2024 you can also use BankID to activate your university account. If you use BankID your university account will automatically receive the higher assurance level SWAMID AL2.
If you need help, please use Serviceportalen to contact the IT support.
What is a T number and a ”personnummer”?
All international students are provided with a registration number from their study department. This is called a T number and is a fictive number for use within Stockholm University’s database where your courses and credits are registered. Each Swedish citizen has a personal identity number, a ”personnummer”, used in these situations. You cannot use the T number outside of the University.
Order your university card
As stated above, please note that your university account has to be activated before you can order your university card.
