Welcome Activities

Stockholm University organises a series of welcome activities at the beginning of each semester.

 The activities are designed to assist you as a new student and introduce you to university life in Stockholm and Sweden, attendance is optional. Please note that all times are CEST (Central European Summer Time)

23 - 29 August - join us on Instagram!
During the whole week, we will focus on our newly admitted students. Quiz, tips and useful information will be posted on our Instagram channel. Follow us! @stockholmuniversity

21 and 22 August - Arrival Service

The Arrival Service is the first event of the Welcome activities and is open to all new international and exchange students at Stockholm University. Student ambassadors and university staff will welcome you and help you settle into your new life in Stockholm and Sweden.

Welcome team at the airport (10.00 am – 6.00 pm): Student ambassadors and university staff will welcome you at Arlanda airport and answer any questions to help you settle into your new life in Stockholm and Sweden.

Key pick-up from Housing Office (10.00 am – 10.00 pm): Students who have received accommodation through Housing Office will be able to pick up their keys on Campus Frescati. Students who arrive from 23 August onwards can pick up their keys from the Housing Office during regular opening hours. Find further details from Housing Office here: Arrival Information.

 

24 August - Orientation Day & Student Panel

Orientation Day (1.00 – 2.00 pm): Orientation Day is a welcome webinar, filled with information about practical matters such as healthcare, IT services, student life and Swedish language courses.

25 August - Speed-friending with SUS

Speed-friending with SUS (1.00 – 2.00 pm ): Stockholm University Student Union (SUS) invites you who are a student at Stockholm University to a digital mingle with new interesting people who are also studying at SU. Take the chance to make lots of new friends and to meet SUS! The event is free and open to both local and international students. You can sign up latest two days before the event.

26 August - Introduction from the Library & Student Panel

Introduction from the Library (12.00 - 12.45 pm): Use the library to enhance your education. In this short online lecture you will learn how to use the services the library offers.

27 August - Workshop with Språkstudion

Workshop with Språkstudion (10.00 – 11.30 am): Do you want to write better notes during lectures in different languages? In this hands-on workshop, you will learn strategies for utilising the languages you know in order to make your lecture notes matter.

31 August - Speed-friending & Language Cafe information meeting

Information meeting Language Cafe (12.00 – 1.00 pm): Språkstudion invites all students interested in volunteering as Language Cafe coordinators during the autumn term of 2021 to an information meeting. Both new and experienced cafe coordinators are invited, and all languages are welcome!
