Apply for accommodation exchange students

All admitted exchange students will receive information via email on how to apply for accommodation through the Housing Office. Please read more about the process and who is eligible.

Who is eligible?

All international students are eligible to apply, however exchange students and non-European master students that have received a specific scholarship via the Stockholm University Scholarship Scheme are prioritized.

Please note however that accommodation cannot be provided to students with children because we do not have apartments that are suitable for families. Please also note that we cannot provide accommodation for students that have a swedish citizenship.

There is a considerable housing shortage in Stockholm. Therefore, we cannot guarantee accommodation for all exchange students.  For the students that we cannot offer housing, we refer to our information with advice on how to find housing on the private market.

Student accommodation is rented on a semester basis, and charged accordingly with set arrival and departure dates. If your exchange studies continue for one academic year (i.e. Autumn-Spring), you can apply for an extension for a second semester.

Non-European master students that have received a specific scholarship via the Stockholm University Scholarship Scheme may only rent accommodation during their first year of studies. The maximum rental period for all students is two semesters.

All eligible students will receive an e-mail with information on how to apply for accommodation. This email is sent in the middle of May for students beginning their exchange studies in the autumn, and in the middle of October for students beginning their exchange studies in the spring.

Accommodation Offers

If you have applied for accommodation before the deadline you will receive an e-mail from the Housing Office stating whether you have received an accommodation offer or not.  This email will be sent before June 30 (for the autumn semester) or before November 30 (for the spring semester).

The accommodation offer will include information about the type of accommodation, the area, your first rent payment due date, key pick-up, a copy of the rental contract, and so on. Read all information carefully before accepting your accommodation offer online.

The application period for the autumn semester is over and all accommodations are now fully booked.

All rent contracts for the autumn semester 2019 will start on August 24, 2019 and end on January 17, 2020.

The application period for the spring semester 2020 is between 18–27 October, 2019. If you send your application later than October 27 we will only be able to offer housing if there are still vacancies after we have offered accommodation to all incoming exchange students that applied on time.

All rent contracts for the spring semester 2020 start on Sunday, 19 January, 2020 and will end on Friday, 12 June, 2020..
