Scientific Computing
Computational work of today can be looked upon as an industrial process. The process is supervised in critical parts through inspection of well-chosen intermediate results. Scientific Computing is the study of methods for constructing and examining these processes.
Subject description
Mathematical analysis, construction and analysis of numerical algorithms, software engineering and numerical experimentation are all parts of Scientific Computing. Methods for studies of how small changes in the data impact results is of particular importance. The courses are given in collaboration with KTH Royal Institute of Technology.
Career opportunities
The combination of mathematics and modern software development makes those trained in Scientific Computing in demand within many labour sectors, such as the manufacturing industry, consulting, and also research and education.
Courses and programmes
Degree
Scientific Computing is not a main field of study but courses can be used as electives for the bachelor’s/master´s degree in another main field of study.
