Use your multilingualism as a resource for your writing!

Wednesday 19 February 2020 10.00 – 12.00

Kårsalen, level 1, Studenthuset A

Do you find it difficult to write in English or Swedish as a second or foreign language? Join the Academic Writing Service for this workshop on using your multilingualism as a resource.

Many of us have been told that to 'write in English' you should ’think in English’, but do we need to keep our languages separate when we write academic texts? How can we draw on our knowledge and writing skills in other languages we when produce academic texts in Swedish or English? In this workshop we will explore ways of transferring writing skills between languages, working strategically in a second language and working more flexibly between and across languages. The workshop will be based around discussions between the workshop participants, guided by consultants from the Academic Writing Service and Studie- och språkverkstaden. The workshop will be conducted in English and/or Swedish, depending on the preferences of the participants.

This workshop is delivered with the collaboration and support of the Stockholm University Student Union. Find out more about the Student Union's events and activities at sus.su.se

The Academic Writing Service provides free support for academic writing and study skills to all students at Stockholm University. Find out about our services at su.se/writingservice
