Gender and Feminism in the Middle East

This course introduces students to gender studies and provides a gender studies perspective on the Middle East and North Africa.

Within the course the students will study different types of feminisms as well as thehistorical development and current situation of women's movements in the Middle East and North Africa. The course will also reflect on the construction of femininity and masculinity in discourses and practices.



Teaching Format

The instruction will consist of lectures and seminars.

Attendance on all instruction is compulsory.

The instruction will be conducted in the language stated, Swedish or English, for the respective course instance.

Assessment

The course is examined on the basis of written assignments.
