Human rights in the Middle East, Turkey and East Asia
Then the course addresses the emergence of the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights and its historical predecessor, such as the French Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen (1789) and the American Declaration of Independence (1776). The subsequent development of human rights in the form of new declarations and conventions will also be highlighted. Special focus will be on the current human rights challenges with a special emphasis on Turkey, the Middle East and East Asia and the human rights situation in the Islamic and Confucian traditions of thought.
