In order to ensure that your studies begin as smoothly as possible we have compiled a short checklist for the beginning of the semester.

Once you have been admitted to a course with us, you will receive an email from the course administrator with information regarding the course start.

Deadline for registration
Usually you need to register online, and you have to register on time to confirm and keep your place. Please see the email from the course administrator.
To be able to register, you need to activate your Student account:
Conditionally admitted
If you are conditionally admitted, you will not be able to register online. First, the department need to assess your qualifications. Contact the course administrator – contact information can be found on the course page under Contact.
If you are placed on a waiting list
If you are placed on a waiting list, you will be admitted if there are places available on the programme. Applicants on the waiting list are admitted on a first-come first-served basis. Admission from the waiting list starts after online registration has closed. Some courses have physical roll-calls for applicants on waiting lists.
Make sure to check your email inbox regularly. We will send admission offers via email, and the response time is usually quite short.
The learning platform Athena
We use the e-learning platform Athena for communication within our courses. Each course has its own course site where teachers will make relevant material available at the start of the course. You will have access to Athena after you have registered.

The e-meeting service Zoom
We use the e-meeting service Zoom for lectures and seminars at some of our courses. Zoom is free for all students at Stockholm University. Make sure to get aquainted with Zoom before your first lecture/seminar.

If you have been admitted to a programme or a course you can, in some instances, apply to defer the commencement of your studies.

If you have registered for your course, but wish to discontinue your studies, log in to Ladok for students to register your discontinuance.
Welcome activities
The Student Office organises activities aimed at all students at SU, regardless of programme or course, focusing on general information and social events.
Each department has its own introductions for their students, with a greater focus on matters related to their specific programme or course. Information relevant to your department can be found above.
Find your way on campus
Stockholm University's main campus is in the Frescati area, north of the city centre. While most of our departments and offices are located here, there are also campus areas in other parts of the city.
