Masterclass in Radiation Therapy

In this course you will learn about the physics and the biology of radiation therapy, about the techniques involved in delivering radiotherapy and about clinical aspects regarding the delineation of the radiotherapy targets, the prescription of the radiation dose and the tolerance of the normal tissue.

The course will consist of three modules given in three different weeks with some break in between, covering the following topics:

  1. Physics of radiation including radiation production and interaction with matter and basic and clinical radiobiology
  2. Radiotherapy modalities and techniques
  3. Clinical radiotherapy

The first two modules will be taught by lecturers from the Medical Radiation Physics division at the Department of Physics, SU. The lecturers on the third topic, clinical radiotherapy, are medical doctors working in radiotherapy.

This is an advanced full-time course given during the daytime.

The education consists of lectures and activating tutorials and exercises.

The course is examined through a written report on a personal project assignment.
