Submarine geomorphology

The course is concerned with seafloor landforms and landscapes, and the geomorphological processes in the marine environment that create and shape those landforms.

You will learn about fundamental geomorphological concepts, erosion and deposition processes in marine environments, as well as how marine landforms can be mapped and investigated with marine geophysical methods. The course will explore the significance of sea level change, ocean currents, and marine-terminating ice sheets and glaciers for the construction and distribution of different submarine landforms.



Teaching Format

The course is taught through lectures, seminars, and lab and computer projects. The course is given in English.

C = Good
D = Satisfactory
E = Adequate
Fx = Fail, some additional work required
F = Fail, much additional work required

In order to pass the course, students must receive the minimum passing grade E on all course units and participate in all mandatory instruction.

 


The schedule will be available no later than one month before the start of the course. We do not recommend print-outs as changes can occur. At the start of the course, your department will advise where you can find your schedule during the course.
