Geology, Degree Project

The individual project for the Candidate exam aims to give insight and experience in actual scientific methods in the subject of geology.


The independent work aims at giving insight into and experience of scientific work within geology. Planning, analyses and interpretations of the scientific task form a central part. Literature search, scientific report writing and oral presentations of the research results in seminars will be trained. The course provides knowledge and experience both for further academic studies and for employment in industry and the public sector.

The course is given each term and can be started and ended any time during the term. Together with the supervisor/s, the student establishes a project description which needs to be approved by the responsible professor in Geology.




Assessment

Examination includes both a written report and oral presentation of a scientific work in Geology, and assessment of experimental and/or field-related skills.


The schedule will be available no later than one month before the start of the course. We do not recommend print-outs as changes can occur. At the start of the course, your department will advise where you can find your schedule during the course.


Note that the course literature can be changed up to two months before the start of the course.

The course literature will be based on scientific articles and reports and will be provided by the supervisor/s and searched for by the student.
