This course introduces key themes in Nordic history from the 18th century to today. It covers the main themes and provides thematic specializations into a few selected areas. Political history, broadly understood, makes up the core: nationalism, democratization, parliamentarianism, Nordic cooperation, foreign policies and welfare developments etc. Both features that characterize the region in its whole and differences between them emerging states will be covered.
