Drama in Education for Sustainability

This course concerns education for sustainable development and arts-based teaching, focusing on applied drama as a resource for learning, and is designed for teacher students and in-service teachers at all levels. Autumn 2025 the course is given in English.

The course focuses on conditions and challenges related to teaching for sustainability, and opens for studies of didactical questions connected to a specific educational context, for instance questions of purpose, teaching approach, learning resources, learning outcomes, and dilemmas relevant to teaching for sustainability. Applied drama/drama for learning is at the center of the course.

Once the course has started, the online learning platform Athena is used for tutorials, discussions, assignments and submissions.


Teaching Format

Instruction is given in the form of lectures, seminars, and applied drama workshops.

  • Instruction is campus-based.
  • Participation is mandatory and a prerequisite for examination.


Assessment

The course is examined on the basis of an individual, written assignment, and a practical teaching task.

Examiner

The schedule will be available no later than one month before the start of the course. We do not recommend print-outs as changes can occur. At the start of the course, your department will advise where you can find your schedule during the course.
