Human cognition in Human-Computer Interaction

The course provides an introduction to cognitive psychology with emphasis on aspects that are relevant to the subject area human-computer interaction and related sub-areas such as IT and learning, and IT and cooperation.

Central cognitive psychological theories and issues are addressed, including mental representations, learning, memory, language and thoughts as well as problem solving. 

Some general psychological issues related to the relationship between cognition, perception and motivation as well as general knowledge of the development of cognitive psychology is also treated. In addition to this, the course provides an introduction to behavioral science methodology. 



Teaching Format

The teaching consists of lectures, supervision and seminars.


Assessment

The course is examined as follows: 

  • on-campus written examin
  • group assignment

The schedule will be available no later than one month before the start of the course. We do not recommend print-outs as changes can occur. At the start of the course, your department will advise where you can find your schedule during the course.
Note that the course literature can be changed up to two months before the start of the course.
