Japanese - Bachelor's Course
During the course, the student will develop the ability to independently identify, formulate and solve problems based on knowledge of applicable methods in the field and complete a degree project. The course deals with the formal and theoretical requirements placed on a bachelor's thesis, and further develops the ability to work independently and report at a good academic level.
Within the course, the student must write a degree project in the main area of Asian languages and cultures with a focus on Japanese.

Modules
Academic Reading, 4.5 ECTS
This module equips students with the skills to search for scholarly texts in Japanese studies in Japanese, to independently seek out, read, and analyze scientific texts in Japanese, and to write abstracts and summaries in Swedish or English of scholarly texts in Japanese.
Academic Reference Management, 4.5 ECTS
This module enhances students' ability to search for and correctly use scholarly sources in accordance with the referencing system taught in the course. It also contributes to students' knowledge of and ability to utilize relevant e-resources for Japanese studies in both Japanese and Western languages, as well as to apply the rules for reference management and writing conventions that are taught in the course.
Oral Academic Presentation, 6 ECTS
This module teaches students to orally present the content of an ongoing scientific study clearly and coherently, as well as how to appropriately use technical aids to clarify the content of their presentation.
Bachelor's Thesis, 15 ECTS
In this module, students will write a thesis within the main field of Asian languages and cultures with a focus on Japanese. The course addresses the formal and theoretical requirements for a thesis and provides students with practice in independently and critically conducting a scientific study.
Teaching Format
The teaching consists of lectures, seminars and essay supervision.
Attendance at all classes is mandatory.

Assessment
The module Academic Reading, 4.5 ECTS is assessed through a written submission and an examination seminar.
The module Reference Management, 4.5 ECTS is assessed through a written take-home exam.
The module Oral Academic Presentation, 6 hp is assessed through an oral presentation in a seminar format.
The module Bachelor's Thesis, 15 ECTS is assessed through a written thesis and a defense of the thesis.
