The Arts of the Japanese Stage
The course gives an overview of how different performing arts have developed. The focus is on medieval performing arts (noh) and the performing arts of the Edo period (Bunraku and Kabuki). It also covers certain music and dance genres that are not covered by these theatrical forms.
The course includes a number of compulsory film screenings.
Modules
The course consists of one module, 7.5 credits.
Teaching Format
The course is given in the form of lectures and film screenings.
Attendance is mandatory.
