Asia in Japan

Modern Japan has experienced challenges in locating itself within the region of Asia, as well as the world. With a focus on conceptions and manifestations of Asia in Japan, this course challenge the discourse that separated the two.

The course illuminates the constant changing between nation and regioon through by using aesthetic culture as a lens.

The course gives a historical overview of Asian cultural interaction on Japanese soil.

Assessment

The course will be examined on the basis of a written home exam.


The schedule will be available no later than one month before the start of the course. We do not recommend print-outs as changes can occur. At the start of the course, your department will advise where you can find your schedule during the course.
