The course Copyright and Transborder Litigation is given within the framework of the Master of Laws Programme in European Intellectual Property Law at the Department of Law, Stockholm University.

This course is the second course of the Master's Programme in European Intellectual Property Law. The course aims to provide insights into, among other things, the emergence of new copyright works, the scope of copyright protection in the digital society, infringement, and the choice of law and jurisdiction in case of infringement especially online. Furthermore, alternative or additional means of protection such as contracts and so-called technological protection measures, as well as traditional and modern copyright limitations, are addressed. The cross-border mobility of legal objects and their accessibility via the internet justify special consideration of the rules and methods of private international law when analysing copyright issues.

Syllabus - Copyright and Transborder Litigation


Teaching Format

Teaching consists of lectures, seminars, group teaching and negotiation exercises. The language of instruction is English.


Assessment

Examination takes place through the writing of memoranda, oral argumentation and active participation in seminars and negotiation exercises. When the student has completed elements in groups, the individual student's goal fulfilment is ensured by identifying each student's contribution in memoranda and through questions in seminars. The course is also examined with a final exam.


The schedule will be available no later than one month before the start of the course. We do not recommend print-outs as changes can occur. At the start of the course, your department will advise where you can find your schedule during the course.


Note that the course literature can be changed up to two months before the start of the course.
