Past - Present - Future: Literature of China, Taiwan and Hong Kong

The course presents different perspectives in which the theme "literature" is approached, e.g. genre (historical novel, contemporary literature, science fiction), concept (literature and memory) and comparative literature (times, places, etc.).

The course also provides an overview of the history of Chinese literature based on the theme "past - present and future" based on the perspectives introduced in the course.

The most important literary institutions are also discussed, as well as the relationship between literature and politics and some individual authors and their most significant works.

The course consists of one module, 7.5 credits.


Teaching Format

Instruction is given in the form of lectures and seminars.

Attendance at all teaching sessions is mandatory.

Assessment

The examination takes place through a short oral report and a final take-home assignment.

Examiner

The schedule will be available no later than one month before the start of the course. We do not recommend print-outs as changes can occur. At the start of the course, your department will advise where you can find your schedule during the course.


Note that the course literature can be changed up to two months before the start of the course.
