Environmental Science, Degree Project

Deepen your understanding of environmental science by getting out of the classroom and completing a research-based degree project on a topic of your choice!

This 30-credit version of our degree project course offers 19 weeks of full-time work embedded in one of the research groups in the Department of Environmental Science, or with an approved external supervisor.  Students can select their project based on pitches made by prospective supervisors, or by visiting research groups to discuss and develop their own project ideas.

Your degree project is the capstone on your Master’s studies in environmental science. It is your chance to put everything you have learned into practice, and to independently investigate new scientific questions in the field!

Teaching Format

Your project will be initiated by writing a research plan together with your supervisor.  Then you will carry out the research work independently, but with support from your host research group and supervisor.  When your work is complete, you will report the results of your project in a Master’s thesis, and in a final public presentation.

Assessment

You will be graded by an independent examiner and the course responsible teacher based on your final report and a public presentation of the results of your research project.

The schedule will be available no later than one month before the start of the course. We do not recommend print-outs as changes can occur. At the start of the course, your department will advise where you can find your schedule during the course.
Note that the course literature can be changed up to two months before the start of the course.
