Method Project

Mandatory course in Master´s Programme of Global Media Studies and Master's programme in Journalism Studies. Only students within the program can register to this course.

Students admitted to Master's Programme Fall 2024.

The method project course is based on the students' experiences of method applications from the course Methodology II. This means that teaching and exercises are partly individualized with a varying focus on quantitative and qualitative methods. The course provides skills in research design with a focus on how different methods, theories and empirical materials can be combined. The students carry out pilot studies based on a coherent research design they have formulated themselves.

Teaching takes place in the form of tutorials, exercises and seminars. Method exercises and seminars are course requirements.

For a passing result on the course, the student must be able to show:
-    in-depth knowledge of research design and central methodological issues within media research
-    advanced ability to apply at least two different methods in media studies
-    ability to be critical of different methodological applications and the scientific knowledge they produce

Assessment

The course is examined through an independent work.

Examiner

The schedule will be available no later than one month before the start of the course. We do not recommend print-outs as changes can occur. At the start of the course, your department will advise where you can find your schedule during the course.


Note that the course literature can be changed up to two months before the start of the course.
